2. Where is it being held and where will participants stay?
The Roundtable is going to be held at the Rose Garden Riverside Thailand which is around 1.5 hours away from Bangkok airport. Participants will stay in this resort as well.

3. Do I need a visa to visit Thailand?
  • Tourist Visa Exemption

    Passport holders from 42 countries and special administrative region are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period of not exceeding 30 days on each visit. These 42 countries are:

4. How will we get from the airport to the conference venue?
  • Bangkok International Airport to the conference venue

  • Participants are advised to take Public Taxi from the Bangkok International Airport to the venue of the Asia Leadership Roundtable 2011 - Rose Garden Riverside. It will approximately cost Th Baht 800 to Th Baht 1, 000. Please see the “Transportation Guide for Taking Taxi to Rose Garden Riverside for information. Please note that Public Taxi cannot issue receipt.

    If you would like to have receipt for the Airport-Rose Garden Riverside Transfer, you can think of taking the AOT Limousine. It will approximately cost
    Th Baht 1800 to Th Baht 2,000. Please see the “Transportation Guide for Taking Limousine to Rose Garden Riverside for information.

  • Conference venue to Bangkok International Airport

    A shuttle bus will depart at the close of the entire conference
    (2:00 p.m. on March 15 th).

    You will need to let the Organizing Committee know for whether you will take the shuttle by email by March 8, 2011.

5. How do I book a hotel room?
  • March 13 th and 14 th

    Your room bill for March 13 th and 14 th will be covered by the Roundtable. You will be responsible for all other expenses incurred.

6. Who is sponsoring the Asia Leadership Research and Development Roundtable 2010?
National Institute for Educational Development of Teachers and Educational Personnel (NIDTEP)
of the Ministry of Education, Thailand, and
Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change (APCLC)
of The Hong Kong Institute of Education will co-host the Asia Leadership Roundtable 2011.
7. Any suggestion on hotels in Bangkok before and/or after the Asia leadership Roundtable meeting?
We suggest that you stay in the hotel in Sukhumvit area which is the central shopping district.We have NOT made any arrangements with any of them since we couldn't anticipate how many people would wish to stay in them. Internet rates will be your best option in making reservations.
8. Who is attending?
Participation is by-invitation-only, and limited to 60 scholars, training managers, policymakers, and principals from 15 countries / territories in the region and beyond.
9. What are the goals of the Roundtable?
Our goals for the Roundtable 2011 are to:
  • Examine current trends in educational reform and change in the region;
  • Sharpen the research and policy agenda concerning educational reform and change in the region;
  • Enhance personal/professional relationships that form the foundation for future collaboration on specific research and development projects;
  • Strengthen linkages between regional and global networks of scholars engaged in school leadership research and development;
  • Disseminate findings from the regional experience in implementing educational reforms.
10. Do I need to write a paper for the Roundtable?
While we request participants to develop short papers on educational reform and change in their own national contexts, these papers will not be presented during the Roundtable . They will be published as Occasional Papers under the joint logos of the APCLC and NIDTEP. A selection of papers will submitted for consideration in special issues of international journals. We request that participants submit papers from 1,500 to 5,000 words in length on the topic of educational reform and change in their own national contexts.
11. Will I make a presentation of my paper?
  • Participants will not present their papers.
  • The format of the meeting will emphasize interaction, not academic paper presentation.
12. When is my paper due?
The abstract is due on February 15 th 2011, and the full paper is due on June 1 st 2011.
13. Will there be visual audio aids for presentation?
For the opening speech, provocateur session, and keynote speech, computer generated projectors will be provided.

For the Breakout Discussion session, whiteboard and markers will be provided. If you want us to print any handouts or poster for you, please send to us (APCLC@ied.edu.hk) no later than March 8, 2011.
