A Visit to Hong Kong by the "Small Class Teaching Delegation" from the Yang Pu District, Shanghai (December, 2004)

 

About the Visit

A delegation from the Yang Pu District of Shanghai consisting of

Ms Fang Ying (Deputy Division Head, Division of Compulsory Education, Shanghai Yang Pu District Education Bureau)

Mr. Zhang Zhi (School Headmaster, Yang Pu Primary School, Yang Pu District, Shanghai)

Mr. Zou Xue Feng (Deputy Head, Centre of Research for Primary School, Shanghai Yang Pu District Education Bureau)

Ms Ding Li Min (School Headmistress, Ping Liang Lu Primary School III, Yang Pu District, Shanghai)

Ms Feng Wei (School Headmistress, Da Hu Shan Primary School I, Yang Pu District, Shanghai)

Ms Shen Jin (School Headmistress, Jian She Primary School, Yang Pu District, Shanghai)

Ms. Liu Rong Ming (School Headmistress, Er Liang Primary School, Yang Pu District, Shanghai)

were invited to Hong Kong for furthering the academic exchange and collaboration between Shanghai and Hong Kong educators.

On 22 December 2004, the delegation had paid a visit to Sun Fong Chung Primary School in Tai Po. Mr. Chiu, the headmaster briefed about the development of small class teaching in his school upon joining the pilot scheme introduced by the Education and Manpower Bureau.

 

On 23 December 2004, the delegation paid another visit to San Wui Commercial Society School in Sheung Wan. Mr. Leung, the headmaster of San Wui Commercial Association School portrayed the video clips of the classroom practice of small class teaching across different subjects and levels within the school. By observing the class and meeting with the parents and pupils, the guests were able to grasp a clearer picture of the implementation of small class teaching in Hong Kong.
