We are delighted to have invited two distinguished
scholars, Professor Ference Marton and Professor
Gu Lingyuan, to be our keynote speakers at the
Conference.

Professor Ference
Marton is Professor
of Education at Göteborg University, Sweden. He
was a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University
of Hong Kong 1998 - 2001. Currently he is Honorary Professor
at HKU and Advisory Professor at The Hong Kong Institute
of Education. He is an expert in the field of student
learning and is well known for his work on surface and
deep approaches to learning, and on students’ conceptions
of learning, as well as for developing the phenomenographic
approach to the study of student’s experience of
learning and the theory of variation. |

Professor
Gu Lingyuan is
the Vice Director of Shanghai Academy of Educational
Sciences. He is also Researcher and Professor in East
China Normal University. He has presided over the Mathematics
Education Reform Experiment in Qingpu County of Shanghai
city for 15 years and has done 10 years of follow-up
research. He has been awarded many times as Shanghai
Municipal and China National “Model Worker” and
once won the recipient of the “National 5.1 Labor
Medal” and
the first batch of “Great Contributor to Shanghai
Education”.
He is now sitting in numerous national councils and
committees of education research, curriculum reform,
and teacher education. Some of his major publications
are “Learn
to Teach”, “Theory of Teaching Experiment”, “Revelation
from Qingpu Experiment”, “Action and Interpretation
of Teaching Reform” etc, he is also a chief editor
of “Math
Education Inquiring for 21 st Century”, “ Basic
School for Future” and others. |
