Arrival and Transportation to HKIEd

The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) is located in Tai Po, the New Territories (location map). There are several ways to get to HKIEd from Hong Kong International Airport:

By Bus

Take Airbus E41 (details) to Tai Po Centre ( 大埔中心 ) then change to Bus 74K (details) or taxi (about HK$40)

By Taxi

Take a New Territories taxi (green)* to HKIEd directly (around HK$300-HK$350)

Most taxi drivers in Hong Kong know some English. You may show the address of HKIEd to the taxi driver as below:

Accommodation and Campus Services in HKIEd

Accommodation

Accommodation will be provided from 2 to 9 July (8 nights) at HKIEd campus in Hong Kong, from 10 to 11 July 2013 (2 nights) in Macau, and from 12 to 21 July 2013 (10 nights) in Thailand.

  • Arrival Arrangements

You are required to arrive on 2 July 2013 which airport pick-up service would be provided. Pick-up bus schedules will be announced in due course. Before your arrival to Hong Kong, please be reminded to inform us your flight details and time in advance. Our student helpers will deliver the room key as well as an information pack to you at the hall reception. You are prohibited to bring any guests to the Hall.

  • Check-out Arrangement

You are required to check out from the hall on 10 July 2013 for your departure to Macau.

Library & Sport Facilities

You are free to access the Library (details) and the Sports Complex* (details) on campus by showing your name badge. Fees are applied for using the facilities in the Sports Complex (details).

*except the use of the Physical Fitness Room


Computer Service

Apart from wired internet access via the hostels’ and quarters’ networks, the wireless network for guest and visitor is also available (details). There are also self-access computer rooms in our campus (details) .

Students are required to apply for a student visa through HKIEd International Office.

Guidebook for Entry for Study in HK

To complete the visa application, you have to:

  1. Fill in Part A of the VISA APPLICATION FORM and affix a passport-sized photo
  2. Provide a copy of your proof of financial standing
  3. Provide a copy of your passport – the page(s) that contain personal particulars, and dates of issuance and expiry
  4. Submit all of the above to the International Office together with your application form

Visa processing time is normally four to six weeks. Once your visa has been granted, original visa labels will be sent to your correspondence address by courier.

The total fee for applying Student Visa is HK$460. [Student visa application (HK$160) and courier fee (HK$300)]

Foreign Passport Holders (except Taiwan Passport Holders)

Most passport holders could enjoy a visa-free entry to Hong Kong (Please visit http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_4.htm for details of maximum stay period). If participants who are required a visa, the visa can be obtained through local Embassies/Consulates of the People's Republic China (PRC) for travelling to Hong Kong.

Taiwan Passport Holders

Holders of "Mainland Travel Permits for Taiwan Residents" ( 台灣居民來往大陸通行證 or 台胞證 ) may enter Hong Kong as visitor and stay for up to 30 days (Please visit http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_7.htm#9 for details).

Mainland Residents

Mainland residents are required to obtain an Exit-entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau ( 往來港澳通行證 ) and an "endorsement for individual visit (Geren Luyou)" ( 「個人旅遊」簽注 ) from the relevant Public Security Bureau Office (Please visit http://www.immd.gov.hk/en/services/hk-visas/overseas-chinese-entry-arrangement/mainland-china.html for details).

Macau

Foreign Passport Holders (except Taiwan Passport Holders)

Most passport holders could enjoy a visa-free entry to Macau. If participants who are required a visa, the visa can be obtained:

  1. through local Embassies/Consulates of the PRC; or
  2. upon arrival at the Immigration counter.

Taiwan Passport Holders

Visa-free is applicable to Taiwan residents (for a period of up to 30 days).

Mainland Residents

For holders of a "Two-way Exit Permit" ( 往來港澳通行證 ) issued by the authorities of the People's Republic of China with a valid “Exit Endorsement to Macao” ( 赴澳簽註 ), they are exempted from a "Visa" or "Entry Permit" and will be granted to stay for the period indicated in the endorsement, but not more than 90 days upon arrival.

Hong Kong Identity Card Holders

Visa-free is applicable to Hong Kong SAR residents holding:

  1. Hong Kong Identity Card with symbols “*”, “***”, or “R”,
  2. Hong Kong Permanent Resident Identity Card, or
  3. Return Permit ( 回港證 ) (for a period of up to 1 year).

Thailand
