Gain and Loss from the view of Ecclesiastes

Lunch Time Seminar:

(5th Session) Topic:    Gain and Loss from the view of Ecclesiastes

Date: 12-6-2015 (Fri)

Time: 1:15pm - 2:00pm

Venue: Tai Po Campus (D4-G/F-02)

Speaker: Dr. Tse Wai Yi, Mary (Head of Department of Biblical Studies, Alliance Bible Seminary)

Dr. Tse elaborated gain and loss in life from the view of Ecclesiastes. To live a true life, we have to understand the reality of helplessness and uncertainty in life (i.e. “hebel” in Ecclesiastes). When we know that we are all destined for death, we will know how to set priorities. So we do not need to rush for conclusions in our gain or loss in life. And we do not need to care about gain or loss in our life too often. Gain and loss are not mutually exclusive. In the time of “gain”, share with others. In the time of “loss”, admit that it is the limitation of life and the reality of injustice. Therefore, we have to submit to God’s sovereignty. Just believe that God will bring every deed into judgment. This will lead us to fear God.
