The Institute is committed to Outcome Based Learning (OBL) because it is a student-centred strategy that keeps student learning at the centre of the teaching and learning process. The key purpose of OBL is to assist students in attaining learning outcomes that would enable them to be competent professionals, engaged intellectuals, and active and caring citizens. There are three key functions of OBL in HKIEd:
  1. Guide the development of coherent programmes where courses within a programme are aligned to the programme intended learning outcomes and the Institute's generic intended learning outcomes;
  2. Align teaching, learning and assessment strategies and activities to student learning outcomes; and
  3. Highlight assessment of learning outcomes as a priority.
