The latest donations were made by the Hong Kong Buddhist Association of $2 million and Sik Sik Yuen of $3 million, both in support of the Centre to nurture all-rounded prospective teachers.

Earlier on, the Centre has already received donations from three other main religious organisations in Hong Kong including Ching Chung Taoist Association, the Hong Kong Catholic Diocese and Sheng Kung Hui. .

Ven. Kok Kwong, President of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association led a delegation of six office bearers, and Mr. Hsu Show-hoo, Chairman of the Sik Sik Yuen led a 27-member delegation to the Institute and presented their donations last week.

HKIEd President Prof. Paul Morris expressed gratitude to both groups and the other religious bodies for their philanthropy and staunch support to the new initiative.

Prof. Morris said: “Since the Institute made known our plan of setting up the Centre, responses from the religious community have been very positive. We are confident that more affirmative replies to our appeal will come soon.”
