The Department of Mathematics and Information Technology (MIT) was established on 1st July 2009 upon the restructuring of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) in 2009/2010.
With the vision of nurturing quality educators and researchers in the fields of mathematics and information technology, the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology is striving to expose professionals to the advanced knowledge in the disciplines of mathematics and information technology, to empower educators with the professional competence in teaching the two subjects as well as integrating information technology into education, and to equip professionals with a global perspective to cope with the rapid changes brought about by the globalization and digital culture. With a committed academic team in the areas of mathematics, mathematics education, information technology, and information technology in education, the Department is well-prepared to conduct theoretical and empirical research in partnership with local and overseas communities.
