Rita Yin-ping Chan
BEd, PhD, MA

Rita Chan graduated with First Class Honours from Nottingham University, earned her doctorate in Education from the same university and obtained her masters in Teaching English as A Second Language from the City University of Hong Kong. She is an experienced school teacher, teacher educator and university teaching developer. She has taught English and Mathematics in secondary school, lectured in Education in university, and developed and run tertiary teacher professional development programmes including an accreditation course for university teachers in Hong Kong and workshops in key universities in Mainland China. Prior to joining the HKIED Rita was Lecturer and Assistant Director (Training and Development) of the Centre for Educational Development at the Hong Kong Baptist University, and Associate Professor in the Centre for the Advancement of University Teaching at The University of Hong Kong. Currently she heads the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Supervision at the HKIEd. Rita is a former Chair and former Vice-chair of the Hong Kong Educational Research Association and she has co-directed and co-supervised several publicly funded inter-institutional projects on teaching and learning in higher education. She is interested in Problem Based Learning and assessment and evaluation in higher education.
