Welcome to the Department of International Education and Lifelong Learning!
Our multi-disciplinary department is at the forefront of research, teaching and consultancy work in the areas of:
- international development
- comparative education
- skills development for employability including technical and vocational education
- the philosophy of education
- the sociology of education
- life and values education
- lifelong learning
- elder learning
We are pioneering innovative theoretical, methodological and pedagogical ideas as part of our commitment to the betterment of society through the development of education. Research in the department is closely integrated with our teaching:
- foundations of education courses in undergraduate programmes
- a suite of programmes in Professional and Vocational Education
- an International MA in Educational Innovation and Development
- M.Ed specialisations in Comparative and International Educational Development, Philosophy and Education, and Life and Spirituality Education.
