PROGRAMME AIMS
The EdD programme is aimed at experienced educators and professionals
in education settings who aspire to extend their expertise in a particular
Specialised Area, and their professional knowledge in a broad range of
educational contexts through core courses.
Graduates of the programme can expect to demonstrate:
-
an expert knowledge, under standing and competence in the professional discourse of their chosen Specialised Area and the larger educational context in which their Specialised Area operates, including the ability to contribute to the professional literature in that field;
-
and ability to select/generate and apply theoretical concepts to address, analyse and propose solutions to a broad range of educational issues; and
-
an ability to critically analyse educational policies, processes and practices from different (e.g. hermeneutic, critical and evaluative) perspectives.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
The EdD programme comprises 72 credit points (cps) which normally
takes 3 years for full-time students and 4 years for part-time students to
complete. Students are normally required to attend classes on Saturdays,
weekday evenings and occasionally during long holidays.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION
The medium of instruction is normally English. |
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should normally hold a Master's degree in the discipline of Education or a cognate field relevant to their chosen Specialised Area, plus four years' professional experience. Applicants may be required to attend an interview.

TUITION FEE
This programme is offered on a self-funded basis. The tuition fee is HK$3,500 per credit, which is provisional and subject to adjustment. Tuition fees paid are normally not refundable or transferable.
