I would like to extend my warmest welcome to all the participants in our forthcoming symposium and workshop in Hong Kong - Giftedness in East-Asia: Explorations in the Actiotope Model of Giftedness, 1st - 2nd August (symposium) and 3rd August (workshop) 2011.

This symposium is co-hosted by Department of Special Education & Counselling (SEC), Centre for Special Needs and Studies in Inclusive Education (CSNSIE) from The Hong Kong Institute of Education, the International Research Association for Talent Development and Excellence (IRATDE) and the Hong Kong Academy of Gifted Education (HKAGE). In recognizing the need for equitable educational opportunities for all learners, the symposium will bring together international, local researchers and practitioners of gifted education in Hong Kong. It will highlight the recent trends, issues and existing knowledge of giftedness with specific to the East-Asian context. The outcome of this symposium will provide unique perspectives in the field and implications for classrooms.
