Dear Friends:

It gives me a great pleasure to introduce the Faculty of Languages (FLAN). Our Faculty comprises the two Departments of Chinese (CHI) and English (ENG) along with the Centre for Language in Education (CLE). We have some 130 academic and 30 administrative staff. The Research Centre for Language Education and Acquisition in Multilingual Societies is also housed here as is the Putonghua Training and Testing Centre (PTTC).

We teach a number of programmes, including a wide range of Professional Development Courses, B Ed, M Ed and MA degrees, and the Ed. D specializing in Language Education. The CLE provides highly professional language support in three languages, Cantonese, English and Putonghua.

Academic staff members are active in a range of language-education related research activities, as well as providing consultancy services to schools and education organisations. We work in close collaboration with local schools have strong networks and partnerships with Mainland and international institutions.
