Research Interests School Management Curriculum Studies
Dr. Ping-Man WONG is Head of the Department of Educational Policy and Administration of the Hong Kong Institute of Education. He is the co-ordinator of the Educational Management and Leadership specialization in the Master programme. Since 2003, Dr. Wong has assisted Macau University, supervising the thesis writing of M Ed students on its Educational Policy and Administration Programme.
Dr. Wong has also been a programme leader in various leadership training programmes for local principals, teachers and students. He has experiences in training principals and school inspectors in joint programmes with Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Xiaoguan, and other parts of Mainland China under the sponsorship of these governments or the World Bank.
Dr. Wong is a graduate of Hong Kong University and Chinese University of Hong Kong, and his areas of interest include school management and curriculum studies. Dr. Wong has been involved in research and projects in areas of teachers’ professional development, leadership training and principal preparation. He also works with local and oversea scholars in Management to develop the study of emotional intelligence (EI) on leadership training. His studies are published in local and international journals.
Dr. Wong is experienced in secondary education. Before joining the Institute, he was a secondary school principal. He had been the panel chairman of a subject department, a discipline master and a vice principal. He also served Education and Manpower Bureau, Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, and The Teachers’ Centre as a committee or working party member. He is at present a school manager of local primary and secondary schools.
