This course is designed to provide an introduction to the field of Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychology. I/O Psychology is a smaller field in applied psychology that encompasses important workplace issues at the individual and organizational level. Drawing on the knowledge of job analysis, the industrial psychology component aims to improve organizational efficiency by means of selection and placement, employee performance appraisal, and training. The organizational psychology component aims to enhance the well-being of employees by studying the social and psychological dimensions of the workplace and employees. This course would give an overview of methods, practice, research, and theories of industrial and organizational psychology with respect to the above two components. This course will especially introduce research and practice of I/O psychology in the region. |
