  • General Information for Presenters of Exemplar Practices at the Hall of Excellence/ Poster Sessions
    • Notes to the presenters
      Exemplar Practices at the Hall of Excellence / Poster materials will be displayed on the display boards on 17 December 2003 (Wednesday) from 13:30 to 17:00. One side of a poster board and a table, if necessary, will be provided for each presentation. The poster board is 120cm wide x 180cm high and the areas of the table is 76 cm x 183cm. Stationery, e.g. glue, staple, and blue tag, will be provided for presenters to help display the outcome. The presenters are expected to be ready at the assigned display areas at that time and to answer queries from conference participants and visitors.



      To prepare the display, we recommend that you may start to prepare the set-up on-site at 11:00 a.m. in the morning of 17 December 2003. The preparation rooms are listed below:

    Remarks: Student Volunteers will be standing by to provide possible assistance.

    • Exemplar Practices at the Hall of Excellence
      For the Exemplar Practices at the Hall of Excellence, there will be displays of project work, learning packages, videos or instructional materials. Presenters will introduce materials to anyone interested and respond to concerns or issues raised.
      The equipment will be provided at presenters' request (which has been shown in their abstract/proposal form). Please be reminded that overhead projectors are not a workable presentation style as there is no space for screening in the assigned room, D1-G/F-02.
    • Poster Sessions
      Presenters will introduce their posters to anyone interested and respond to questions raised. One side of a poster board and a table, if necessary, will be provided for each presentation. The poster board is 120cm wide x 180cm high and the areas of the table is 76cm x 183cm. Stationery, e.g. glue, staple, and blue tag, will be provided for presenters to help display their posters.
      Except the poster board and table mentioned above, please be reminded that there is no extra audio-visual equipment for Poster sessions. Should you have further enquiries, please email the Conference Secretariat at <csnsie@ied.edu.hk>.

    • For participants staying at Visitors' Centre, check-in will be handled at Visitors' Centre Office (Flat 18B of Operational Staff Quarters) during office hours (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday). For those who check in beyond office hours, please go to Security Control Centre (near the Pedestrian Entrance of HKIEd) for your accommodation key.
    • For participants staying at Student Hostels, check-in will be handled at Student Hostel A (for male guests) or Student Hostel B (for female guests).

  • Professor Peter Mittler has kindly accepted our invitation to give the keynote speech on "Inclusion World-Wide: The Role of the United Nations" on 17 December 2003.

    Peter Mittler, CBE is Emeritus Professor of Special Needs Education and Past Dean of the Faculty of Education, University of Manchester. For the past 20 years he has undertaken advisory work, consultancies and writing assignments in the field of learning disabilities and special education for the United Nations, UNESCO, WHO and ILO and is a former president of Inclusion International.
