Student learning diversity, if not well catered for, can affect teachers’ teaching and students’ learning. Schools with low student academic performance might face the danger of closure if they cannot attract enough students. Good teachers are necessary but not sufficient to cater for student diversity. The leadership of the principal plays a critical role in bringing about the synergy of the teachers to enhance student learning. This paper aims to investigate the leadership of a principal in successfully bringing life to a school which was in the process of being shut down due to low student enrolment. By using the case study method, data were collected through interviews and school observation. It was found that the principal had facilitated the formation of a Professional Development Team and a Small Class Teaching Planning Group and encouraged the teachers to join a learning circle of schools for teacher professional development. T he principal, teachers, staff, parents and students worked together to foster a sense of togetherness by engaging in different school events to cater for diversity and to cultivate a mutual care and trust in the school.
