WELCOME to CSCT!
The HKIEd established the Centre for Development and Research in Small Class Teaching (CSCT) in March 2006. In the past five years, the Centre has been taking a leading role in the HKSAR in supporting teachers’ professional development in Small Class Teaching, establishing collaborative school networks, conducting applied research and fostering academic and professional collaborations with the Mainland, the Macau SAR and elsewhere.
Small class teaching is becoming a prominent feature in the educational development of the HKSAR, Macau SAR, the Mainland, Korea, Japan, Singapore and other countries in the region, The CSCT aims to develop into a centre of excellence in research and development in SCT in the region to support the improvement in the quality of basic education.
“Accomplishing Teachers’ Learning Communities to Enhance Teaching and Learning Efficiency in Small Class Teaching” School-based Sharing Seminar [Successfully Held]
“Accomplishing Teachers’ Learning Communities to Enhance Teaching and Learning Efficiency in Small Class Teaching” School-based Sharing Seminar, hosted by the Centre, was successfully held on June 25, 2011. More than 80 principals and teachers have participated on the Sharing Seminar. The Centre has invited Mr. Ip Kin Yuen, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Society of Small Class Teaching as well as Chief Advisor of the Centre, principals and teachers from four schools, to share practical experience about learning communities, which covers the topics as follows:
- Learning Communities -- The Inspiration for Teachers’ Professional Development
- School-based Learning Communities for Multi-subjects
- School-based Learning Communities for Chinese Language
- Inter-school Learning Communities
At the end of the Seminar, Mr. Tang Yiu Nam, the Centre Manager, has analyzed the connotation and the significance of Small Class Teaching in the context of Hong Kong, and the action points while planning the Learning Communities.
