Background of Mindfulness Education
In the past few decades, the evidences of clinical empirical research from countries in the West such as the US and the UK have showed that mindfulness-based training programme is effective in facilitating participants in relaxing, reducing stress, reducing depression relapse and promoting body-mind-spirit well-being, etc. Related programmes have been extensively launched and researched in hospitals and communities. Recently some educators in the West have started educational mindfulness programme and research in schools. Apart from organising regular workshops to the staff and students of the Institute, the Centre has provided training workshops to teachers and parents from tertiary institutes, secondary and primary schools, and kindergartens. Besides, the Centre has explored and worked on the pilot study of mindfulness education programme for adolescents. The staff of the Centre has actively participated into the local network of mindfulness instructors and international conferences.
