Welcome to the Centre for Learning Study!

The Centre for Learning Study has been set up as a research and development centre under the Faculty of Education Studies (FES). It capitalizes on the existing strengths of the research team of Learning Study in HKIEd. Learning Study is a collaborative action research into classroom teaching aiming to improve student learning. It features teachers’ collaboration in planning, teaching and reviewing lessons and utilizes the Variation Theory of learning developed by Ference Marton as its framework. The centre addresses a number of demands, including: teacher professional development within the Hong Kong education community; the development of school partnerships between HKIEd and schools in Hong Kong; and strengthens the research capacity of HKIEd by involving colleagues from different departments of our institute in the on-going research endeavors on Learning Study.

The centre directs its research efforts in addressing the theory-practice gap in the field of teacher learning and further advancing the theory and practice of Learning Study.
