The Centre for Lifelong Learning Research and Development (CLLRD) is a research centre in the Hong Kong Institute of Education. It is part of the Hong Kong Institute of Education’s commitment to education plus.
The CLLRD is a response to the growing diversity of education and training across the span of people’s lives, and the importance of education in promoting lifelong and career-long learning opportunities. The Centre sees its role as conducting research and high quality teaching and professional development for practitioners globally, with particular reference to the Asia Pacific region and to Hong Kong and Mainland China. Priority areas for research and development in the CLLRD include education for all, education for sustainable development, technical and vocational education, secondary education, teacher education, elderly education and higher education. One of the major initiatives is the HKIEd Elder Academy which responds to the needs of older learners. In addition the CLLRD is exploring questions about work-based learning in secondary schools, and global student mobility, with local and international partners. Our partners include some of the most prestigious and cutting edge universities and international development organisations, worldwide.
We look forward to working closely with researchers, policy makers and practitioners to strengthen and upgrade Lifelong Learning Research and Development, with particular reference to promoting best and innovative practices.
