Welcome to the Centre for Citizenship Education (CCE)

The Centre for Citizenship Education (CCE) is designed to study, inform, and improve the processes by which students, as future citizens, acquire the knowledge, skills and dispositions that are prerequisites for active and effective participation in civic life. The CCE is intended to be a catalyst for increasing Hong Kong's and the Asia/Pacific region's capacity to provide high quality citizenship education, and an active and effective citizenry. Using a multi-dimensional approach to citizenship education, the CCE utilises a programme of research, professional development, curriculum development, school partnerships, networking, and technological support to achieve its goals.

CCE was established in February 1999 under the joint leadership of Prof. Lee Wing On and Prof. David Grossman, who served as co-Heads until September 2005. Mrs. Teresa Chai served as Deputy Head of the Centre from 2001-2005. In September 2005 Prof. David Grossman and Dr. Leung Yan Wing became co-Heads of the Centre. In September 2007, Dr. Leung Yan Wing and Dr. Fairbrother, Gregory Paul become co-Heads of the Centre.
