Professor Xie Jiaxing

Professor Xie is currently the director (post graduate section) and professor in the China Conservatory of Music and the executive director-general of the Chinese Music Education Society. He is also the director of the Chinese Music Psychology Society, member of the Chinese Music Aesthetics Society and vice-president of the Beijing Music Education Research Institute. Professor Xie also holds other positions, like the leading cadre of the Research of School Music Education in Germany, a key item of the Eighth five-year plan of Education Science of National Education Commission; the leading cadre of the Research of Learning and Passing on the School Music Education, a key item of the Ninth five-year and Tenth five-year Project of Education Science of National Education Commission. He is the chief editor of Education Volume of Annual of Chinese Music (supplement 49-89); he participated in the Practical Research of School Art Education, a key item of Education Science of National Education Commission of the Ninth five-year Project and is in charge of the item of Developing the Ability to Appreciating Music.

Professor Xie's recent major publications included: Coming into Music (1999), A Society of Music Education in Germany (1) (an achievement of the items of the Eighth five-year Project of National Science and Education) (1999), Musical Analysis (edited by the Department of Education) (2000) and Music Appreciating (2000). He has over 20 major academic papers published since 1994.
