  Welcome Message

Managing global changes and education reforms: Asia and Pacific Responses

19-21 November 2014
The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd), Hong Kong

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the Asia Pacific Educational Research Association (APERA) & the Hong Kong Educational Research Association (HKERA) International Conference 2014 which will be held at the Hong Kong Institute of Education, Hong Kong from 19 to 21 November 2014.

The theme of the conference is "Managing global changes and education reforms: Asia and Pacific Responses", as we know globalisation has impacted almost every aspect of our lives and we, people who are concerned about education, are keen to know what this means to education. It is also our firm belief that research-based knowledge should underpin any and all initiatives in education, including planning, organising, implementing, and restructuring. Every country in the process of such reforms can learn valuable lessons from the experiences, knowledge, and insights gained from others. Discussion of the obstacles faced and how they may be addressed are also a rich knowledge resource. In this regard, the APERA-HKERA International Conference 2014 aims to provide a platform for education practitioners, researchers and policy-makers throughout the Asia-Pacific region and beyond to share and discuss how to design and implement the necessary educational reforms that will prepare the next generation to meet the challenges in education posed by these changes.

You are cordially invited to take part in this exciting international event, and to share your innovations, experiences, cutting-edge findings, best practices and visions of education reforms. As one of the most dynamic and vibrant cities in the world, Hong Kong is a superb location for hosting this conference. You are certain to enjoy your stay in this global city with its unique location, colourful history, diverse culture and East-meets-West character.

We look forward to meeting you at the APERA-HKERA International Conference 2014.
