水彩創作展簡介

在大學念物理時,鄭燕祥教授已開始對藝術繪畫產生濃厚興趣。過去三十多年來,他在水彩畫上發展了獨特的個人風格,既抒發個人情懷,亦演繹中國精神及西方意念;帶著人文情懷,以活潑創新的水彩氣韻,體驗形神遷移的境界。

是次展覽共選出近六十件作品,跨越七十、八十年代,直至現在,集中在寫意傳神的創作,反映他多年來風格上創新的歷程,亦是內心氣韻之遷想。近全部都是未曾展覽過的作品,共分為十個系列,包括山群頓悟、山意尋覓、成景偶拾、古意聯想、放眼外望、氣韻自在、水墨習作、色光感覺、形景遷移、筆觸境界等,合成這次「氣韻之遷想」的展覽。

鄭燕祥教授簡介

鄭燕祥教授為美國哈佛大學博士。現任香港教育學院副校長(研究與發展)及領導與變革講座教授。曾任亞太教育研究學會會長(2004-08)。著作甚豐,曾發表學術論文200餘篇及專著20本。部份著作除中、英文外,曾被翻譯爲希伯來文、 韓文、西班牙文、泰文、捷克文和波斯文。享譽國際,曾於1994至2008年間,8次贏得英國 Literati Network 頒授卓越獎及崇高讚譽。近年來,應邀為國際組織及各國的國際研討會,作主題演講,超過60多次。

在2001年及2005年,香港教育學院藝術系曾為鄭教授主辦兩次個人水彩創作展覽,反應甚佳。他亦曾應香港藝術館之邀請,分別為香港傑出藝術家陳餘生(2004)及韓志勳(2005)的藝術講座,擔任專題主講嘉賓,作學術推廣。

 

Introduction of the Exhibition

Professor CHENG Yin Cheong has developed an interest in art and painting since he was an undergraduate student of Physics. In the last three decades, he has developed a unique style in watercolour painting, which integrates the aesthetic expression of his sentiments with his interpretation of the Chinese spirit and western art ideas. His works are an embodiment of how metaphysical concepts can be translated into physical forms.

There are about 60 works in this exhibition, reflecting the development of the creative expressions in his painting style from the 70’s up to today. Nearly all of them have not been exhibited before. There are 10 series of creative works on various themes including Enlightenment in Mountains, Soul Searching in Mountains, Discovery of Idyllic Scenery, Association with Classical Essence, Looking Outward, Blissful Tranquility, Ink and Wash Paintings, Sense of Color and Light, Transformation of Shapes and Scenes, Realm of Brush Strokes with the major theme "Transformation of the Vital Spirit"

Professor CHENG, Yin Cheong

Professor Cheng holds a doctorate from Harvard University. He is the Vice President (Research and Development) of the Hong Kong Institute of Education, and Chair Professor of Leadership and Change. He was the President of the Asia-Pacific Educational Research Association (APERA) from 2004 to 2008. Professor Cheng has published 20 academic books and over 200 book chapters and journal articles internationally and regionally. Some of his publications have been translated into Chinese, Hebrew, Korean, Spanish, Thai, Czech and Persian. Professor CHENG’s research has won him a number of international awards and recognition including eight Awards for Excellence from the Literati Network in UK in 1994 to 2008. In the last few years, Professor CHENG has also been invited to give over 60 keynote/plenary presentations by national and international organizations.

In 2001 and 2005, Professor CHENG’s watercolor works were selected for the art exhibition held by the Department of Creative Arts of the Hong Kong Institute of Education and many good responses were received. He was invited by The Hong Kong Museum of Art to give seminars on renowned local artists such as Gaylord Chan (2004) and Hon Chi Fun (2005) to promote art development in Hong Kong.
