水彩創作展簡介

在六十年代末,鄭燕祥教授作為香港中文大學物理系學生時,已開始對藝術繪畫產生濃厚興趣。過去三十年來,他在水彩畫上發展了獨特的個人風格,特色是在抒發個人情意的同時,亦對中國精神及西方藝術意念作重新的演繹。
是次展覽共有四十五件作品,都是從鄭燕祥教授的百多件作品中特意選出,旨在反映他多年來風格上的轉變,以及他探索內心和外在世界的心路歷程。四十五件展出作品共分為以下十個系列:山之隨想、山水之研究、水澤、在天地間、在市之尋覓、早春之意、桂林之懷想、荷花之聯想、寫花的日子及樹之意。

鄭燕祥教授簡介

鄭燕祥教授現任香港教育學院研究及國際合作中心總監及教授,兼亞太教育領導及學校質素中心主任。此外,他亦擔任大學資助委員會委員及研究資助局專責委員等公職。鄭教授在美國哈佛大學取得博士銜,專研教育行政及政策,先後在多份國際學術刊物中發表論文150餘篇。他曾出版專著8本,部分著作除中、英文外,曾被翻譯為希伯來文、韓文、西班牙文及泰文。鄭教授在研究方面成就超卓,享譽國際。他曾於1994年、1996-98年及2001年贏得英國 Literati Club 頒授的卓越獎及祟高讚譽。他亦獲邀在不少主要國際組織及機構舉辦的大型國際研討會中作主題演講嘉賓。


Introduction of the Exhibition

Professor CHENG, Yin Cheong has developed an interest in art and painting since he was an undergraduate student in Physics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in the late 1960's. In the last three decades, he has developed a unique style in watercolor painting, which integrates an aesthetic expression of his sentiments with his re-interpretation of the Chinese spirit and western art ideas.

There are 45 exhibits in this exhibition, that are specially selected from over 100 pieces of Professor CHENG's watercolor works, with an aim to reflect the development of his painting style over the years and his discovery of the inner and outer world. The exhibits are classified into the following 10 series: Thinking upon Mountains, Landscape Focus, Waters, In Nature's Embrace, Downtown, Early Spring, Guilin in Memory, Inspirations from the Lotus, Flowers and Enlightening Trees.

Professor CHENG, Yin Cheong

Professor CHENG, Yin Cheong is Professor and Director of the Centre for Research and International Collaboration of The Hong Kong Institute of Education. He is also Head of the Asia-Pacific Centre for Education Leadership and Education Quality. He serves as a full member of the University Grants Committee and a panel member of Research Grants Council of the Hong Kong SAR Government.

Professor CHENG holds a doctorate in educational administration and policy conferred by the Harvard University. He has published 8 books and over 150 book chapters and articles in academic journals in different parts of the world. Some of his English publications have been translated into the Chinese, Hebrew, Korean, Spanish and Thai languages. Professor CHENG's research has won him a number of international awards including the Literati Club's Award for Excellence in 1994, 1996-98 and 2001. He was invited as keynote speaker at numerous international and regional conferences in education.
