Hiphang Development Programme

Description:

The Hiphang Development Programme is a school-institute forum initiated by the Department of Educational Management and Professional Support, an academic department of the Hong Kong Institute of Education with more than 30 teaching staff specialized in the fields of school management, guidance and counseling, and personal and social education. The following are objectives of the forum:

1. To establish communication links among the forum schools and staff;
2. To promote self-initiation of school-based educators in addressing to their needs, concerns and problems; and
3. To organize programmes that respond to the needs of forum school and the Hong Kong educational community.

The forum staff of the Department of EMPS act as facilitators and the mode of collaboration among members is based on the principles of mutual respect, equal status, self-help, give-and-take and active involvement by forum schools. Since its setting-up in 1996, the school development programmes organized include school exchange visits, needs assessment, SAMs, a forum on the Quality Education Fund, and a forum on General Teaching Council. Forthcoming programmes under preparation include ITS and leadership training for students.
