(2) Caution Money
All students are required to pay HK$350 as
caution money on first registration. If there are no claims against
the caution money, it will be converted to the Graduation Fee
upon completion of the programme. The caution money is refundable
on withdrawal from the Institute if no claims are outstanding.
(3) Financial Assistance
Full-time students with financial needs may apply for grants and/or
loans under the Tertiary Student Finance Scheme - Publicly-funded Programmes (TSFS) administered by the Government's Student Financial Assistance Agency (SFAA). This is a means-tested
scheme. The grant is to cover tuition fees, academic expenses
and compulsory Student Union fees, while the loan is for living
expenses and is interest-bearing. Both full-time and part-time students may also apply for a loan under the Non-means
Tested Loan Scheme (NLS) which is solely used to settle tuition fees.
Bursaries and interest-free loans are available for full-time students who
have financial needs. Emergency funds and emergency loan
are for students who face urgent and unexpected financial hardship.
(Notes: Students applying for both the TSFS and NLS should have the right of abode in Hong Kong or have resided or have had their homes in Hong Kong continuously for 3 complete years prior to the commencement of the programme. This does not cover students staying in Hong Kong holding student visas.)
(4) Government Language Fund
To encourage serving teachers of the Chinese and English Language
subjects to enhance their subject knowledge in the language they
teach, the Language Fund has set up the Professional Development
Incentive Grant Scheme for Language Teachers. Each applicant may
receive 50% of the tuition fee of an entire programme of study,
up to a maximum of HK$ 30,000, upon the successful completion
of the approved relevant programmes of study.
