Programme Aims
This programme enables students to build on their previous qualification and experience in early childhood education and further develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of competent, caring and reflective preschool educators who are able to construct their own personal philosophy of teaching and learning.

Programme Features
- A wide range of teaching methods will be utilised, such as workshops, school visits, seminars, discussions, where appropriate, in the delivery of the courses.
- The emphasis is on guiding and enticing students to actively participate in the learning process; to understand, critically evaluate and apply what is taught; and to acquire the skills for independent, lifelong learning and development.
- Students have opportunities to participate in academic exchange visit.
- Day and evening modes are offered. Evening classes are available in both Tai Po Campus and Town Centre/satellite study centre at urban locations as decided by the Institute.

Medium of Instruction
The medium of instruction is mainly Chinese. English is adopted as the language of instruction for relevant courses, as appropriate.

Mode of Study
- This programme is offered on day release/evening part-time basis with a 3-week summer block between the two years.
- It follows a course structure with on-going school-based supervised teaching, peer observation and school visit.
- Students are normally required to attend two to three 3-hour sessions per week from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm for day release programme or 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm for evening programme. Some of the lessons may be conducted in the morning/afternoon sessions on Saturdays.
- For the full-time summer block conducted after the 1st year of study, students are required to attend lessons from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (tentatively) from Monday to Saturday.

Career Prospects/Professional Qualifications
Graduates of the programme:
- have the professional qualification required of child care supervisors; and
- are eligible to apply for the Institute's Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Early Childhood Education) Programme (Three-year Part-time).

Entrance Requirements
To be eligible for admission, applicants should normally:
- be serving principals/teachers or centre supervisors/child care workers in registered early childhood education institutions using Chinese as the medium of instruction; and
- hold Qualified Kindergarten Teacher status or equivalent.

Early Admission
Early admission offers will be given to highly qualified applicants. These applicants will be informed of the admission result individually. Applicants who are not offered early admission shall not assume that they are not being considered for admission. Please check the progress of your application according to the schedule in "Interviews and Admission Results".
